The Rev. Lee Ann Tolzmann

Although most of her childhood was spent in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lee Ann+ graduated from Glastonbury High School in Glastonbury, Connecticut in 1973.  She is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a degree in history.  She and her husband, David, were married in 1976 and have lived in Boston, Massachusetts; Charlottesville, Virginia; Jackson, Mississippi and, since 1983, in Baltimore City (with the exception of three years in Manhattan for seminary).  While her children were young, she ran a home-based business with a developmental toy company.

Lee Ann+ is a lifelong Episcopalian, and was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Ruxton for many years.  After exploring a call to the priesthood, she was accepted as a postulant by the Bishop and earned a Masters in Divinity degree from the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church.  She was ordained in 2001 and served at St. Andrew's Church in Glenwood, Maryland, before being called to Messiah in April of 2003.  She and David and their black Labrador retriever, Sophie (who sometimes visits the office at Messiah!), live in Northeast Baltimore.  David is the owner of the Labyrinth Company, which designs and build meditative spaces for churches, hospitals, schools, and individuals.  They have two daughters, one who lives and works in Chicago and one who is in college in New York.
